Job Description

Job Title: Wire Harness Engineer
Location: Onsite in Windsor, ON with US Travel required
Duration: 12 months
Pay rate range: $40.00 - $46.00 CND on T4
 
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Minimum 3 years of Wire Harness Design & Release experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field required, master’s degree preferred.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Harness routing throughout the vehicle.
    • Harness components including connectors, terminals, splices, circuits, and protective coverings.
    • Electrical systems and circuit connectivity within vehicles.
    • Potential interference issues with moving parts and surrounding components.
Experience with:
  • Teamcenter
  • NX (other CAD tools such as CATIA or SolidWorks are acceptable and can be learned)
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • DFMEA, DVP&R, Design for Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Industry Background
  • Automotive experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Candidates from Aerospace Wiring Harness backgrounds (e.G., Boeing) will be considered.
  • Hiring manager confirmed previous successful hires from aerospace industries.

Work Location & Travel
  • 100% Onsite Role
  • Primary support at Windsor Assembly Plant.
  • Candidate will have workspace access at both:
    • Windsor Assembly Plant
    • ARDC (Automotive Research & Development Centre)
US Travel Required
  • Candidate must be eligible to travel to the United States.
  • Expected travel to:
    • (Auburn Hills, MI)
    • Other regional facilities as needed.
  • Potential travel frequency: approximately once per week when required.

Vehicle & Driving Requirements
  • No company vehicle provided.
  • Candidate will use their own vehicle.
  • Mileage, tolls, and travel-related expenses will be reimbursed through expense reports.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Support wiring harness design activities in collaboration with designers.
  • Investigate and resolve harness-related issues found during vehicle assembly and production.
  • Coordinate design updates and engineering changes with design teams.
  • Work closely with assembly plant operations to support production issues.
  • Review harness routing, packaging, and system integration concerns.

High Voltage Systems
  • Role supports vehicles containing high-voltage harnesses.
  • Candidate should possess:
    • Basic understanding of high-voltage electrical systems.
    • Awareness of HV safety protocols and handling requirements.
  • Expert-level HV experience is not required.
  • Client will provide required high-voltage safety training.

CAD Requirements
  • NX experience preferred.
  • Candidates with experience in:
    • CATIA
    • SolidWorks
    • Other 3D CAD platforms
      are acceptable and expected to transition into NX.
