Description: Technical Writer
Technical documentation provides accurate, up to date, and comprehensive information that is easily accessible to internal teams and external technical partners. Establishes and maintains a scalable documentation architecture that supports client's proprietary SaaS platform, beginning with Menu Management services used across client. Works closely with engineering, product, and technology leadership to define documentation standards, organize technical knowledge, and publish clear, consistent content that supports onboarding, integration, and ongoing system use.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensures that platform documentation (APIs, integrations, system behaviors, and operational guidance) is accurate, current, and readily available to engineers, product teams, and partner integrations.
  • Establishes and maintains a technical information architecture that is well organized, user focused, versioned, and consistent across the Byte ecosystem.
  • Coordinates the development, integration, formatting, and release of technical content in collaboration with engineers, product managers, and designers.
  • Authors and maintains technical documentation including API references, integration guides, architecture summaries, onboarding materials, and how to articles.
  • Analyzes documentation usage, feedback, and adoption to identify gaps and improve content clarity, structure, and usability.
  • Gathers feedback through reviews, surveys, analytics, and stakeholder input to continuously improve documentation quality and organization.
  • Develops diagrams, data flow visuals, and architecture illustrations to support written technical content.

Complexity & Problem Solving
  • Tackles documentation challenges where existing materials are incomplete, outdated, or non existent.
  • Applies established technical writing practices, templates, and standards while helping define new ones where needed.
  • Translates complex system behaviors, APIs, and data flows into clear, consumable documentation for varying technical audiences.
  • Exercises judgment in organizing ambiguous or evolving technical information into structured, maintainable content.
Autonomy & Supervision
  • Receives general direction from technology leadership and product teams, with increasing autonomy in defining documentation structure and standards.
  • Collaborates closely with subject matter experts to validate accuracy and completeness.
  • Work is reviewed through peer and SME feedback loops to ensure technical correctness and usability.
  • Operates independently in driving documentation initiatives while aligning with broader platform goals.
Communication & Influence
  • Builds strong working relationships with engineering, product, and platform teams.
  • Communicates regularly with technical stakeholders to gather requirements, clarify system behavior, and incorporate feedback.
  • Explains technical concepts, system interactions, and documentation standards clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Advocates for documentation as a core product asset, encouraging consistent contribution and upkeep across teams.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Requires demonstrated experience in technical writing within a software, SaaS, or platform engineering environment.
  • Strong conceptual understanding of APIs, backend/frontend systems, data models, and integration patterns.
  • Familiarity with technical documentation tools and workflows such as Markdown, Confluence, OpenAPI/Swagger, Postman, and Git based version control.
  • Brings foundational knowledge of documentation best practices, information architecture, and content governance.
