Title: Scientist II-Antibody Technologies
Location: San Diego, California 92130
Duration: 12 Months

JOB SUMMARY
  • We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Scientist II to contribute to the research and development of monoclonal antibodies in our Antibody Technologies team. This individual will be responsible for working in a dynamic team environment and be a contributor to multiple work streams, including but not limited to protein expression and purification;tissue culture and cell-line engineering;and testing antibodies for use in flow cytometry application. The position requires extensive hands-on experience with protein purification, tissue culture, protein expression, and a strong understanding of biochemistry and molecular biology. The successful candidate is expected to set up and execute experiments, be detail-oriented, skilled at data analysis and troubleshooting and will be accountable for preparing and presenting data at lab meetings with guidance regarding required tasks and expected results.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for purification of antibodies and recombinant proteins using AKTA FPLC and manual methods. Must execute and document work using SOPs and must follow strict GMP requirements under ISO 13485 standards. Coordinates preparation and transfer of purified antibody and protein samples to other functional teams.
  • Executes analytical testing of purified antibodies and proteins using SEC, SDS-PAGE, Western blot, MADLS, and qPCR.
  • Responsible for transfection and/or expression of antibodies and recombinant proteins from various mammalian cell lines, including but not limited to CHO and hybridomas as well as E. Coli. Specific requirement for hands-on experience with aseptic technique and cell-culture techniques
  • Responsible for the execution of experiments with varying complexity using advanced molecular biology techniques.
  • Responsible for the execution of experiments with varying complexity using multi-color Flow Cytometry.
  • Analyze data using FCS Express and FlowJo software, report test results including completion of all required documentation and database entries as required by protocols and SOPs.
  • Day-to-day problem solving and cross-functional team-based activities to ensure that daily operations and timelines are met.
  • Independently analyze own research data, solve problems with minimal guidance and effectively plan follow up experiments. Will be expected to efficiently prioritize individual workload.
  • Involvement with scheduling, operational and maintenance duties required within the laboratory.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Protein purification with liquid chromatography and quality assurance using various analytical methods.
  • Protein expression using various systems including but not limited to mammalian cells, insect cells, and bacteria.
  • Proficient with aseptic technique and cell-culture techniques is required.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with assay automation and automated liquid handlers.
  • Preferred: Experience with cell line engineering
  • Preferred: Hand-on experience with Flow Cytometry and the ability of analyzing Flow data is preferred.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team-oriented environment to achieve organizational goals.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to keep neat, accurate, and complete records.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.


Education And Experience
A Bachelor s or Master of Science degree in biochemistry, cellular or molecular biology, immunology, or related discipline and a minimum of 2-4 years of laboratory experience required. Protein purification, protein expression, molecular biology and tissue culture experience required
