Title –Safety Manager
Description –Oversee all aspects of safety including, but not limited to:
 
  • Miss Dig program oversight
  • Lead or report out to safety governance forums (Safety Committees, Safety Summits, etc.) to review incidents, metrics (e.G., OSHA rates, man-hours), and drive accountability
  • Support contractor safety program for the enterprise
  • Safety presentation creation and contractor event reviews
  • Submit safety performance reports to senior leadership
  • Contractor monthly safety meetings, weekly contractor safety meetings and adhoc
  • Track enterprise-wide safety initiatives
  • Provide Daily Support / Field Observations to contractor teams to uphold safe work practices. This includes handling safety escalations or questions from the field, participating in daily safety calls/toolbox talks, Pre-Job Briefs and serving as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on safety procedures
  • Respond to safety incidents and near-misses in real time, coordinating initial incident investigation. For any injury or significant event, ensure immediate actions to secure the area, then collect information for analysis
  • Coordinate internal audits and mock MIOSHA inspections, addressing any findings to adhere to regulations
  • Issue Safety Alerts or bulletins to the workforce after incidents to communicate causes and preventive measures
  • Organize Safety Stand-Downs after incidents –dedicated sessions where crews stop work to discuss what happened and how to prevent it
  • Oversee safety training for contractors. Track training compliance as a leading safety indicator (ensuring all personnel complete courses on time)
  • Drive programs that strengthen the safety culture.
  • Engage both leadership and Contractor employees in promoting the core safety value
  • Regularly communicate safety performance and success stories to keep safety top-of-mind
  • Solicit feedback and suggestions from the workforce on safety concerns
  • Provide feedback on contractor safety policies
  • Ensures lessons learned are shared across the organization and integrates those lessons into training and process improvements
  • Investigate and share emerging safety technologies
  • Other safety tasks or initiatives as assigned.
