Job Description


Role Overview:

·      Perform removal, installation, and fabrication of aircraft interiors.

·      Work with items such as:

o  Trim

o  Carpet

o  Soundproofing

o  Light structures

o  Cabinetry

o  Panels and accessories

·      Ensure all work meets company design specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.

·      Mentor and train junior technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

Aircraft Interior Work:

·      Remove, install, and fabricate aircraft interior components such as:

o  Galleys

o  Closets

o  Lavatories

o  Side ledges

o  Bulkheads

o  Doors and panels

·      Prepare and install interior items according to company procedures and quality standards.

 

Compliance & Documentation:

·      Coordinate with supervisors and inspectors to ensure:

o  Compliance with repair station procedures

o  FAA documentation and sign-offs

o  Quality standards

·      Use the material tracking system to:

o  Create parts demand

o  Track squawks (issues)

o  Sign off completed work

 

Leadership & Mentoring:

·      Train and mentor Interior Installation Technicians.

·      Review their work before final sign-off.

·      Take lead responsibilities when required.

·      Oversee projects and coordinate work with other technicians.

 

Tools & Equipment:

·      Use tools such as:

o  Hand tools

o  Band saws

o  Shears

o  Sanders

o  Brakes

·      Maintain and properly care for shop tools and equipment.

 

Installation & Hardware:

·      Remove and reinstall:

o  Nut plates

o  Inserts

o  Fasteners

·      Ensure proper use of aircraft hardware and fittings.

 

Safety & Work Environment:

·      Follow safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies.

·      Use personal protective equipment (PPE).

·      Identify and address unsafe conditions.

·      Assist with aircraft maintenance tasks.

·      Adapt to schedule changes and cross-department coordination.

 

Basic Requirements:

·      High School Diploma or GED required

·      Minimum 4 years of installation, fabrication, or related experience

·      Aerospace industry experience preferred

 

Additional Responsibilities:

·      Support process improvements to reduce cost and time using:

o  Lean

o  Six Sigma

·      Create and use simple patterns when needed.

·      Support aircraft certification and flight testing if required.

·      Perform other assigned duties.

 

Skills & Technical Requirements:

·      Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documents.

·      Skilled in hand and power tools used in aircraft interior work.

·      Knowledge of materials such as:

o  Nomex honeycomb composites

o  Fiberglass

o  Lexan

o  Acrylic panels

·      Basic computer literacy required.

·      Strong written and verbal communication skills.

·      Must be fluent in English.
 

Physical Requirements:

·      Ability to:

o  Climb ladders and stairs

o  Work in confined spaces

o  Lift up to 40 lbs

o  Work any shift as required
