Job Description

Title: Manufacturing Maintenance Manager III_USA
Location: San Leandro, CA  94577
Duration: 6 months
Pay range: $60 - $65/hour on W2
Shift: 7 am –4pm (Candidate must be open to flexible shifts and overtime)

Purpose of Position
  • We are seeking a dynamic and technically proficient Senior Maintenance & Plant Engineering Manager to lead our plant’s maintenance, reliability, and engineering operations.
  • This hybrid role combines strategic oversight of maintenance programs with hands-on plant engineering leadership to ensure optimal equipment performance, infrastructure integrity, and continuous improvement across all operational areas.
  • The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge, strong leadership, and a proven track record of driving sustainable improvements in a manufacturing environment.
 
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
 
Maintenance & Reliability Leadership
  • Lead and develop a high-performing maintenance team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and technical excellence.
  • Design and implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategies to improve asset uptime and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Oversee preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs using CMMS and advanced diagnostic tools.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to address chronic equipment issues.
  • Ensure all equipment and systems meet food safety, regulatory, and performance standards.
  • Develops department’s budgets.
  • Implements and controls approved budgets.
  • Ensure a safe, efficient and effective use of all manpower and other resources under his supervision.
  • Monitor subordinates for compliance to OSHA, EPA, FDA, and USDA regulations.

Will perform LO/TO if required.

Plant Engineering & Capital Projects
  • Provide engineering leadership for plant utilities, infrastructure, and equipment systems including HVAC, boilers, compressed air, and water treatment.
  • Lead the design, specification, and implementation of capital projects, ensuring alignment with safety, reliability, and operational goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate engineering solutions that improve process efficiency, energy usage, and equipment maintainability.
  • Manage engineering documentation, including P&IDs, equipment drawings, and utility schematics.
    Ensure compliance with building codes, environmental regulations, and engineering standards.
 
Cross-Functional Continuous Improvement
  • Align maintenance and reliability goals with production, quality, safety, and training objectives.
  • Lead plant-wide initiatives using Lean, TPM, and Six Sigma methodologies to improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Support capital project planning and execution, ensuring reliability and maintainability are integrated into design and implementation.
  • Champion autonomous maintenance and operator care programs to promote frontline ownership of equipment health.
 
Systems & Asset Management
  • Oversee maintenance planning and scheduling to ensure efficient execution of work with minimal production disruption.
  • Manage spare parts inventory, vendor relationships, and maintenance budgets to support proactive maintenance strategies.
  • Ensure CMMS data integrity and accurate documentation of maintenance procedures and reliability standards.
  • Monitor and report on maintenance KPIs, equipment reliability metrics, and audit readiness.

Training & Development
  • Develop and implement technical training programs for maintenance and operations personnel.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and proactive problem-solving across all departments.
  • Lead staff development in troubleshooting, equipment onboarding, and reliability best practices.

Education/Training/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in maintenance, reliability, or engineering leadership within a manufacturing environment. (Food or CPG experience preferred).
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and automation systems, as well as plant utilities and infrastructure.
  • Proven experience implementing RCM, TPM and other reliability frameworks.
  • Proficiency with CMMS/EAM platforms and reliability analytics tools.
  • Demonstrated success in capital planning, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
