Job Description


Join our team in the vibrant city of San Diego, CA, where you'll provide essential on-site customer and operations support to our internal customers. This role involves working with diagnostic and general laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring they function optimally to support our operations.
Job Summary
The role involves installation, qualification/validation, calibration, maintenance, and repair services. Flexibility is key, as after-hours, holiday, and weekend support may be required based on business needs.
Job Responsibilities
  • Install and service instrumentation with minimal supervision according to ISO standards.
  • Maintain documentation in line with cGDP requirements and standards.
  • Complete service documentation as required by the position function or as requested by management.
  • Manage time effectively, communicate with customers, and control work schedule.
  • Report quality and technical issues to management and relevant parties.
  • Complete all administrative documentation promptly.
  • Support empowerment initiatives and improve team processes for efficiency.
  • Perform calibration, maintenance, and repair activities for laboratory equipment as needed.
Education and Experience Education
  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • US Military TMDE/PMEL or Instrumentation experience is ideal.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics/Computers/Biomedical Engineering is desired.
Experience
  • Minimum 7 years of recent experience in servicing laboratory equipment and plant instrumentation.
  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience with ISO 9001: 2008, 10012, 17025, or 13485.
  • Experience with medical devices, PCs/software, LIS, networking, and database management is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration equipment calibration, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting is desirable.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Good working knowledge of electronics and electro-mechanical devices.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills, including technical writing and training.
  • Strong interpersonal, organization, prioritization, and administrative skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and handle time-sensitive projects.
  • Proficient in component-level troubleshooting and analysis.
  • Customer service focused with a strong understanding of calibration principles and related activities.
  • Proficient in using electronic test equipment and reading schematics. Computer and data skills are required.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work towards department goals.
  • Quick learner of technical skills and industry knowledge.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Frequently and up to 70 lbs. Infrequently.
  • Must handle bending and stooping for prolonged periods (up to 10 hours).
  • Prolonged standing (up to 10 hours per day) is required.
  • Ability to push/pull materials up to 100 lbs.
Work Environment Environmental Conditions
  • Occasionally works in noisy conditions.
  • Personnel protective equipment required: safety glasses, gloves, safety shoes.
