Job Description

Location:  Charlotte, NC, 28269
Duration:  12 Months
Pay:      $28/hr. On W2
 
Job Description:
Performs fabrication projects as well as basic maintenance for aircraft equipment and components.
 
Key responsibilities:
  • Performs layout and fits up work using fixtures or positioners
  • Welds various metals using Pulsed MIG, Short-arc MIG or Submerged arc processes
  • Uses MIG welder to assemble fabricated metal products in an efficient manner to maximize production
  • Operates the equipment in a safe manner and reports hazards associated with the equipment to the supervisor
  • Produces strong penetrated welds that are smooth, non-porous and consistent
  • Follows required procedures and uses appropriate jigs and fixtures to assist in the assembly process
  • Performs a variety of brazing functions encompassing all materials
  • Performs hand grinding and forming work as needed
  • Cleans and maintains an orderly work area
  • Communicates effectively with others
  • Assists other individuals in area when needed
 
Required qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two-year experience in manufacturing welding using Pulsed MIG, Short-arc MIG or Submerged arc processes;ASME certification
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Physical ability to work and weld in awkward positions such as kneeling, lying down and overhead
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to pass an onsite 6G certification test
  • Knowledge of the welding process and equipment
  • Ability to weld vertical, flat, and overhead welds with a good penetration and a quality appearance
  • Ability to operate a plasma cutter and acetylene torches
  • Math skills including fractions and angles
  • Ability to read tape measures and angle finders
  • Ability to read blueprint drawings and cut lists
  • Good communication skills relative to supervisor and other related departments
  • Trained in overhead crane operation
  • Ability to climb and work from a ladder
  • Ability to operate various shop tools including power and manually operated wrenches
  • Able to work weekends and over-time
