Description

This Job requires Reservoir management to be responsible for the implementation of the overall water control plan of these watersheds which includes operational forecasting, flood control, and drought management.
Reservoir operations use software systems and data from many sources to implement the water control plan: hydrologic equipment and instrumentation, weather forecasts, and historical operational information.
A remote network of real-time instrumentation is also maintained by reservoir management personnel and contractors including rain, stage and temperature sensors.
Reservoir management also provides watershed modeling using river analysis software.
To facilitate these functions, computer systems and a software suite referred to as HOMS (Hydro Optimization Management System) are also operated and maintained by reservoir management.
This position will support the hydro reservoir management team with these activities.

Primary Responsibilities:

Water resource management which includes hydro operations forecasting, flood control, and drought management
Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
Watershed modeling
Support of the gaging systems and equipment
Computer system management
Programming to support software developed and maintained by reservoir management
Computer model development and configuration

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering required

Experience:
A basic understanding of:

Water resource management
Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
Watershed modeling
Fluid mechanics
Computer model development and configuration
Programming and scripting languages

Familiar with:

Gaging systems and equipment
Data collection and dissemination
