Description
  • This Job requires Reservoir management to be responsible for the implementation of the overall water control plan of these watersheds which includes operational forecasting, flood control, and drought management.
  • Reservoir operations use software systems and data from many sources to implement the water control plan: hydrologic equipment and instrumentation, weather forecasts, and historical operational information.
  • A remote network of real-time instrumentation is also maintained by reservoir management personnel and contractors including rain, stage and temperature sensors.
  • Reservoir management also provides watershed modeling using river analysis software.
  • To facilitate these functions, computer systems and a software suite referred to as HOMS (Hydro Optimization Management System) are also operated and maintained by reservoir management.
  • This position will support the hydro reservoir management team with these activities.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Water resource management which includes hydro operations forecasting, flood control, and drought management
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
  • Watershed modeling
  • Support of the gaging systems and equipment
  • Computer system management
  • Programming to support software developed and maintained by reservoir management
  • Computer model development and configuration
 
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required
 
Experience:
A basic understanding of:
  • Water resource management
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
  • Watershed modeling
  • Fluid mechanics
  • Computer model development and configuration
  • Programming and scripting languages
 
Familiar with:
  • Gaging systems and equipment
  • Data collection and dissemination
