Desktop Support III

Location: Gary, IN, 46402
Duration: 18 Months (07/17/2026 –01/16/2028)
Job Overview:
The Desktop Support III technician will provide hands-on support for end-user desktop computers, laptops, and related IT equipment in a manufacturing/industrial environment. The role ensures that all employees have reliable and properly functioning IT systems to perform their daily tasks with minimal disruption. This is an on-site, user-facing role requiring strong technical troubleshooting skills and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site desktop and desk-side support for end users
- Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, and peripherals
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network connectivity issues
- Support Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Perform Active Directory user account management and support
- Respond to service desk tickets and resolve issues within SLA timelines
- Perform software installation, updates, and basic system maintenance
- Provide face-to-face support to plant/office users
- Ensure minimal disruption during issue resolution
- Participate in on-call rotation after training period (3–6 months)
- Follow all site safety and PPE requirements in industrial environment
Required Skills:
- 2–3 years of desktop/desk-side support experience
- Strong experience with Windows OS environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Active Directory administration experience
- Strong troubleshooting skills (hardware/software/network basics)
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work in a manufacturing/plant environment
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and wearing PPE
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree preferred (for future permanent hire consideration)
- Minimum 2 years IT support experience required
- 8–10+ years experienced candidates may be considered within budget
