Job Description

Location Address: Hybrid - 44 King Street W 12th Floor, Toronto - 2 days in office per week.
Contract Duration: ASAP to Oct 31st 2026 –1 year approx
Possibility of extension: It depends on the person on maternity leave.
Schedule Hours: 9 am-5pm Monday-Friday;standard 37.5 hrs/week

Business group: International Banking - Contributes to the overall success of the development of critical data assets/data models serving International Banking Analytics
The Data Engineer will be responsible for implementing data models to be consumed for business intelligence and advanced analytics applications. Ensures all activities conducted are following governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Daily activities:
  • Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Functions as a member of an agile team and helps drive consistent development practices, tools usage, common components, and patterns.
  • Collaborates with analytics and business teams to build and improve data models that feed business intelligence tools, increasing data accessibility and fostering data-driven decision making across the organization.
  • Participates in design discussions with stakeholders focused on scalability, design and implementation best practices
  • Direct the identification and recommendation of appropriate solutions.
  • Performs hands-on design and development with SQL.
  • Spends significant amount of time writing code and testing.
  • Works with the team to optimize code execution.
  • Skilled with dimensional modeling.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with ***’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.
Must-have requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience deploying data engineering solutions in a production setting
  • 2+ years of experience with relational database (SQL Server), doing hands-on production level coding.
  • Data Modeling (Intermediate Level) experience

Nice-To-Have Skills:
  • Experience in QA and testing methodologies highly desirable
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is an asset
  • Experience in cloud-based environment such as GCP desirable
  • Experience working in Retail/Risk Banking Domain is an asset
  • Experience of working with agile methodologies in a team with continuous collaboration

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or related field or relevant experience.

Best VS. Average Candidate:
  • The best candidate is someone hands-on with SQL development for data analysis. Someone who can demonstrate SQL and work with complex models.
