Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to sustain and advance a systems engineering capability transformation during a planned leave of a systems engineering capability lead.
Active initiatives include:
A pilot implementing requirements within a new system-of-systems operating model
A Jama Connect pilot with a focused team
Coaching teams on writing strong needs and integrated requirement sets
Introducing practical systems engineering tools (system boundary definition, DSMs, value analysis, architecture diagramming)
This role requires deep systems engineering expertise and demonstrated success leading change in organizations with uneven SE maturity.
The contractor will act as both technical authority and change leader, maintaining momentum during a critical activation period.

Key Responsibilities
Requirements Excellence
Coach teams on writing high-quality needs and requirements
Improve decomposition, integration, and traceability
Reinforce standards for clear system boundaries and verification alignment
System-of-Systems Pilot Support
Clarify system boundaries, interfaces, and ownership
Facilitate cross-team alignment in ambiguous areas
Apply structured SE methods to reduce friction and decision churn
Jama Connect Pilot Coaching
Support a focused pilot team using Jama
Establish best practices for requirement structure, hierarchy, and traceability
Collect and implement feedback and ensure tooling reinforces sound systems engineering thinking
Capability Building & Change Leadership
Deliver focused workshops and 1: 1 coaching
Introduce practical SE tools that improve clarity and reduce conflict
Influence across engineering, product, and program leadership without formal authority

Required Qualifications
7-12+ years in systems engineering for complex products
Formal SE training (INCOSE-aligned preferred)
Proven experience leading requirements improvement initiatives
Deep expertise in:
Needs vs. Requirements definition
System boundary clarity
Requirement decomposition and traceability
Interface management
Demonstrated ability to drive change in low-to-moderate SE maturity environments
Strong facilitation and communication skills
Desired Qualifications
Experience in consumer electronics or fast-paced hardware–software integrated products
Experience working with Jama Connect
SE Master’s Degree, Certificate or INCOSE CSEP/ESEP certification
Experience introducing DSM analysis, value modeling, or architecture frameworks
The successful candidate will:
Sustain momentum of the SE transformation
Improve requirement quality and integration within pilot programs
Enable effective execution of the Jama pilot team
Clarify system boundaries and interface ownership
Reduce cross-team conflict through structured requirements practices
Deliver documented playbooks and a clean transition back to the returning principal
Ideal Candidate Profile
This is not a process administration role.
The ideal candidate:
Has built systems engineering capability before
Knows what “good”looks like and can teach it clearly
Balances rigor with pragmatism
Navigates ambiguity and organizational friction effectively
Understands requirements as a leadership and alignment tool

Education Requirement:
Bachelor's Degree in engineering

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
This position requires discussions/meetings, cross collaboration with different BU stakeholders within client team for piloting, educating, and implementing common Systems Engineering practices. Good communication skills and overall system architectural understanding are key.
