Location Address: 150 King Street W 5th Floor, Toronto –
Work arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days in office per week.
Contract Duration: 9 months
Schedule Hours: 9 am-5pm Monday-Friday;standard 37.5 hrs/week


Project: The Business Systems Analyst with expertise in Settlements/Payments and/or ISO20022 as we will be decommissioning previous systems and moving to new settlement platforms. The incumbent will be responsible for delivering on all tasks associated with the program and ensure proper documentation of artifacts, requirements, and solutions are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives

Typical Day in Role:
  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Effectively support, communicate with, and maintain excellent working relations with front office, clients, technology, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely processes.
  • Provide accurate and informative analysis to management.
  • Act as the first point of contact for Operations Teams for project related asks.
  • Support Senior Management in providing project overview, effective updates & review of outstanding deliverables that may present against the critical path.
  • Consistently seek opportunities for process improvements to maximize efficiencies.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations while ensuring adherence to business controls to meet obligations related to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risks
  • Collaborate with business and technology teams to analyze and document requirements for Settlements back-office module enhancements while ensuring minimal to no impact to current day operations;ensuring stakeholder alignment and senior management buy in.
  • Create detailed process flows both operationally and technically (alongside technology and architecture team) that translates into future SOP and training guides for Operations users.
  • Review and action Settlement system requests for design, working closely with Derivatives Back office business line to document acceptance criteria and feedback.
  • Capture detailed business and technical requirement documents into existing user stories, ensure test care and validation scenarios are comprehensive and support the Ops team in executing testing that aligns with each story created.
  • Must be an expert in documenting process flows (use of VISIO, MS Office Suite) and clear communication to present to multiple levels of leadership for review and buy in.
  • Work closely with project managers, developers, and QA teams to ensure successful implementation of solutions.
  • Act as a liaison between stakeholders to gather feedback, resolve issues, and align priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with international payment regulations and industry best practices.
  • Own and drive testing efforts by defining test cases, validating outcomes, and facilitating user acceptance testing (UAT) through coordination with BAU teams and ensure effective collaboration.
  • Create and maintain project artifacts, including user stories, functional specifications, and workflow diagrams.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
1) 10 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst
2) Strong working knowledge of Derivative Products Settlement cycles and methods
3) 2-3 years of experience with in SWIFT messages or ISO implications/requirements for delivery in 2026.
4) Proficiency in creating detailed documentation, including functional specifications, process flows, and use cases.

Nice-To-Have Skills:
1) Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
2) Hands-on experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio, or equivalent.

Soft Skills Required:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Best vs. Average Candidate
The ideal candidate will have strong experience and understanding in configuring Settlements systems for optimized user experience, understand derivative products, SWIFT message typologies, and to be able to define requirements and solutions with business and operations teams, with opportunities to enhance current processes through system configurations that align with industry standards.

The hiring team is specifically looking for experience related to cash settlement, not security settlement. This includes handling cash payments tied to trades rather than the exchange of securities or stock positions through DTC, Euroclear or CTS.
