The Custodial Environmental Services Specialist supports the daily custodial and environmental services operations across County buildings and facilities. This position plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment by performing custodial duties, assisting with inspections, supporting inventory control, and ensuring proper use of equipment and supplies. The Specialist works under the direction of supervisory staff and contributes to overall service quality and operational efficiency.

This position plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment by performing custodial duties, assisting with inspections, supporting inventory control, and ensuring proper use of equipment and supplies. The Specialist works under the direction of supervisory staff and contributes to overall service quality and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized custodial cleaning tasks in County buildings and facilities, including offices, restrooms, common areas, and high-traffic spaces
- Ensure all areas meet established cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards
- Assist with inspections of facilities to identify maintenance, cleanliness, or safety issues and report findings to supervisors
- Support inventory management by monitoring custodial supplies and notifying management of replenishment needs
- Properly use, clean, and maintain custodial equipment and tools;report equipment issues or malfunctions
- Follow established procedures for chemical handling, waste disposal, and infection control
- Assist with training new custodial staff on proper cleaning techniques, safety protocols, and equipment use
- Support supervisors with documentation, reports, and performance-related information as required
- Adhere to County policies, OSHA standards, and environmental health and safety regulations
- Respond to special cleaning requests, events, or emergency situations as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of custodial methods, cleaning products, and equipment
- Understanding of safety practices, chemical handling, and infection control procedures
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and quality standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Physical ability to perform custodial duties, including lifting, standing, and repetitive motion
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior experience in custodial, environmental services, or facilities maintenance preferred
- Ability to pass required background checks and training
